This is the250 year
old farmstead, on 2 1/2 acres, I had bought as a handy-man's special.
I've since done the restoration, moved to another house on
the original property and have finally been
able to get down to gardening again. The house and barns
are on the National Trust for Historic Preservation list, and
according to a friend of mine, there is a resident ghost,
although we've not met. As you can see, it gets pretty
cold up here in the hills of the north shore of Long Island.
Our usual cold temperature is around 5 degrees F on the Island although
we go as low as -6 here in the hills. Unfortunately, we
usually don't have snow
when this happens, and it can be 60 degrees only a few days
before. But that's usual for this area. Things have
to be pretty hardy to survive. I'll post pictures of the
new house and garden as it progresses. |
